Hong Kong Fashion Week

By Fiona on January 19th, 2012

I have just returned from Hong Kong Fashion Week. It was a short, sweet and jammed packed 4 days and definitely a great experience. This being my first time to the city I was not sure what to expect. It was raining for most of my visit giving the city a beautiful deep hue. Within the city on Hong Kong Island sits a juxtaposition of the old and new.
I stayed in Sheung Wan, full of traditional shops selling herbs and medicines. It is a busy hub, full of people up until very late at night. I did a lot of walking and my feet are covered in blisters. I was quiet fascinated by the sheer size and volume of the skyscrapers here, such a contrast to Sydney. I did note that bamboo scaffolding surrounded some of these incredibly modern buildings, along with older style ones! (a few as much as 3 stories high) I felt a little uncomfortable walking under those (though it took me a few times to realise)
The trade fair was full to the brim. Extremely well organised and high tech. We could learn a lot from the HKTDC for our fairs here. Phone apps of exhibitor lists, QR scanning codes, business matching services all facilitating the art of doing business. I have to say, I loved it!
